There are times when life presents challenges that result in setbacks. A few reasons we face hardships are immaturity, a lack of discipline, and poor decision-making. When we’re met with obstacles, having a family support system that assists us can help us overcome and learn the lessons life is trying to teach.
The Family is Essential for the Breaking Point
The story of the prodigal son illustrates the family system at its finest moment. It tells of a son dealing with the shortcomings previously mentioned. He falls into the consequences of his choices and deals with hardship. When he’d reached rock bottom, he could start over because his father was there to welcome him home.
The Family is the Key to Restoration
One of the benefits of having a family system is that it provides a soft place to land when things have fallen apart. This is also a reason it should be restored and maintained. When an individual falls into circumstances where grace and compassion are needed, having family support to lean on may be the key to their recovery, restoration, and dignity.
